About Me
Emmet Byrne is a professional actor from Cullenagh, Co. Laois. He began acting in Dramsoc NUIG -
there he achieved a BA in Politics and English and a Masters in Drama and Theatre. After 4 years of
intense participation in the dramatic life of the university and city Emmet chose to move to Dublin to
pursue a career in acting. For the last decade he has lived and worked mostly in Dublin, and occasionally in
the UK. In September 2022, he moved permanently to London and is happily burrowed in like a tick.
He has worked on most of the major stages around Ireland with many of it's leading theatre artists. Recent projects include The Great Hunger with the Abbey Theatre and IMMA, The Long Christmas Dinner by Thornton Wilder in the Abbey Theatre.
In the UK: an acclaimed performance as Sean in the Walworth Farce in the Southwark Playhouse, NW Trilogy in the Kiln Theatre and Blood Wedding in 2020.
Screen highlights include a central role in RTÉ’s Striking Out with Amy Huberman and co-starring in an
episode of Lore on Amazon Prime. He will be guest-starring in the pending third season of Alex Rider.
